Nagasaki University hosted an official Side Event of the Eighth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD8) “Planetary Health in Africa: Nagasaki University’s Contribution to the World”

 On September 28 (Wed), Nagasaki University hosted an official Side Event of the Eighth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD8) “Planetary Health in Africa: Nagasaki University’s Contribution to the World” online.

 The symposium started with the opening remarks by Dr. Kohno Shigeru, President of Nagasaki University and Dr. Oishi Kengo, Governor of Nagasaki Prefecture, followed by the Keynote Address by H.E. Tabu Irina, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kenya to Japan. Then faculty members from Nagasaki University and two researchers from Africa who have been in close relationship with Nagasaki University introduced their own research from a perspective of Planetary Health. In the Panel Discussion, they explored how to realize Planetary Health through actively exchanging multidisciplinary knowledge.

 The event drew around 50 participants from universities in Japan, relevant institutions such as JICA and partner schools in Africa, and concluded successfully.
