Nagasaki University Global Alumni Network Thai Chapter Networking Reception in Bangkok

On December 18, 2022, the Nagasaki University Global Alumni Network (NUGAN) Thai Chapter Networking Reception was held in Bangkok, Thailand.

The reception was held to commemorate the establishment of the NUGAN Thai Chapter, with about 60 former international students, guests from partner universities in Thailand, and people from Nagasaki University coming together to see old friends and network.

The reception began with an address by President Kohno, followed by a video message from the Consul-General of the Kingdom of Thailand in Fukuoka, Mr. Sorut Sukthaworn, and congratulatory greetings from officials of the partner universities: Chulalongkorn University, Thammasat University and Mahidol University.

After this, Dr. Kittisak Thawnashom, a former researcher at NEKKEN (Institute of Tropical Medicine) Nagasaki University and now a Lecturer at Naresuan University, declared the establishment of the NUGAN Thai Chapter.

Nagasaki University will offer assist in the establishment and support the activities of chapters in Thailand and other countries/regions by nominating candidates for the Alumni Association Awards.

The following day, President Kohno, Trustee Ito, and others members paid a courtesy visit to President Banchong Mahaisavariya of Mahidol University. The two universities agreed to continue to work closer together by expanding their areas of cooperation to build upon their long history of collaboration in malaria research and student exchange in the field of environmental science.
