Fascinated by the ideal of multicultural coexistence

Mita Mariko is a student of the School of Global Humanities and Social Sciences. She was fascinated by the ideal of multicultural coexistence society when she studied in New Zealand as a high school student. After returning to Japan, she questioned the current situation of accepting refugees in Japan and in 2020 established a student organization STARS in order to raise awareness on refugee issues. She is also actively involved in the awareness raising activities for immigration problems in Japan and the Nippon Foundation project to support Ukrainian refugees.
