Twelve healthcare administrators, who work on improving public health, from 10 French-speaking African countries, were accepted by Nagasaki University as trainees for one month. They were from Cote d’lvoire, Comoros, DR Congo(2), Senegal(2), Chad, Togo, Benin, Mali, Mauritania, and Morocco, and received training from Jun 30th to July 30th in Nagasaki and Tokyo.
They learned the history of the local healthcare administration, current political measures, and the difficulties of improving healthcare services on remote islands. They found applicable activities for their countries in lectures such as “Cooperation with government (prefecture, city), service provider (healthcare center, hospital), and school,” “Improving legislation and doing projects according to the law,” “Policy of providing healthcare service in remote places and development of human resources,” and “Development of resident participatory activity and educational activities for residents.”
After returning to their home countries, trainees will use the knowledge they gained in Japan to improve their local situations.
