On Monday, August 22, Dr Ito Masako, Trustee (Student Affairs and International Affairs) , Nagasaki University attended the “Japan-Africa University Exchange Conference” organized by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST).
Twelve universities from Japan, including the University of Tsukuba and Nagasaki University, were invited to participate in the conference as universities with rich experience in cooperation with Africa. From African countries, nine universities, including the Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology and Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, participated.
Following a message from Mr Ide Yosei, the State Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and a lecture by Dr Matsumoto Yoichiro, Science and Technology Advisor to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, representatives from each university made presentations and exchanged opinions on their activities and prospects for exchange between Japan and Africa.
Dr Ito expressed expectation toward further collaboration between NU and universities in Africa.
