Major Activities
The Nagasaki University Central and South America Research Station was established to be the Brazil Research Station for the Nagasaki University Research Center for the Control and Prevention of Infectious Diseases under the AMED (Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development) Emerging and Re-emerging Infectious Diseases Research Platform Creation Project which started in November 2023. The station was established within the Instituto Keizo Asami (iLIKA) of the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE), Brazil.
The main purpose of this center is to provide knowledge on infectious disease control and public health in Brazil, and to develop and implement a comprehensive viral infection diagnosis system and train personnel to utilize this system.
