Counsellor for Science and Technology, Embassy of France in Japan visited Nagasaki University

From December 12th to the 13th, Professor Didier Marty-Dessus and two attachés from the Embassy of France in Japan, and Prof. Anavaj Sakuntabhai from the Fondation Pasteur Japon paid a courtesy visit to Nagasaki.

Nagasaki University conducts active exchange with French universities and other institutions; we have signed academic exchange agreements with eight universities/institutions in France. Under these academic exchange agreements, there has been many kinds of collaboration: joint research in the biological sciences; joint research, collaborative projects, and personnel exchanges in the field of radiological protection; sending and receiving graduate students for research/training; and reciprocal exchange of undergraduate students.

Over the two days, the delegation participated in meetings and presentations regarding our science and technology departments with connections to France (the Institute for Tropical Medicine, the Atomic Bomb Disease Institute, the Graduate School for Biomedical Sciences, Graduate School of Fisheries and Environmental Sciences), saw the campus and research facilities, and met with President Nagayasu on the 13th. We believe that this visit was very beneficial for both parties and firmly believe it will also lead to fruitful exchange in the future.
