On Friday, July 24th, the “Bhutan Cultural Introduction Seminar & Networking Session” was held on Nagasaki University’s Sakamoto Campus.
During the seminar, an international student from Bhutan introduced participants to Bhutanese traditions and culture, as well as the concept of Gross National Happiness (GNH). Participants deepened their understanding of Bhutanese culture, and the question-and-answer format generated lively discussions, with many questions from the audience. In addition, a quiz competition, featuring gifts from Bhutan as prizes, was also held, where participants actively competed to answer, this portion of the event generated great enthusiasm and excitement.
Following the seminar, a networking session was also held, providing an opportunity for students, faculty, and staff members to interact with each other and deepen their connections. Faculty and staff members with ties to Bhutan shared their experiences and stories from the country, contributing to a warm and friendly atmosphere.
The year 2026 marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Bhutan. This event provided a valuable opportunity for participants not only to deepen their understanding of the country, but also to reflect on the friendship and cooperation between Japan and Bhutan.
Nagasaki University Global Alumni Network (NUGAN) plans to hold a series of “Beyond Borders” events every month.
