Associate Professor Takafumi Nishikawa of the Graduate School of Engineering Featured in JICA’s “Mundi” Magazine

Associate Professor Takafumi Nishikawa of the Graduate School of Engineering was featured in “Mundi,” a monthly magazine published by JICA.
In 2017, JICA established the Road Asset Management Platform (RAMP), which aims to extend the service life of roads and bridges in developing countries in cooperation with the Japan Society of Civil Engineers, various Japanese universities, and private companies.
Specifically, this program brings together the latest Japanese technology and knowledge on the maintenance and management of roads and bridges to address the challenges faced by developing countries, and it brings international students to graduate schools in Japan to develop the human resources necessary for the maintenance and management of those structures.
As a member of this program, Associate Professor Nishikawa is in charge of intake for topic-based training sessions and long-term training sessions, and he is currently conducting research on Bailey bridges in Laos with RAMP’s Laotian students in cooperation with the National University of Laos.
In July 2020, the governments of Laos and Japan signed the Record of Discussions (R/D) on the Project for Capacity Development on Bridge Maintenance and Management, so further cooperation between the University and JICA can be expected.
