Inauguration Ceremony of the First Ambassador

On November 4, 2023, Nagasaki University held the inauguration ceremony for the Nagasaki University Global Alumni Network (hereinafter referred to as “NUGAN”) Ambassador. The ceremony was conducted online as part of the Nagasaki University Homecoming Day, specifically named NU Global Homecoming Day in Bangkok, Thailand.

The participants in the ceremony included not only attendees at various venues but also those who could join online through Zoom and YouTube, as announced beforehand on the Facebook pages of the Office for Global Relations and NUGAN. This allowed participation not only from Japan and Thailand but also from countries in Southeast Asia and Africa.

During the ceremony, President Nagayasu Takeshi first introduced Dr. Kittisak Thawnashom of the Kingdom of Thailand, who assumed the role of the first ambassador. Subsequently, Director Ito Masako of the Office for Global Relations declared the appointment of Dr. Thawnashom as the ambassador. Additionally, in Bangkok, Thailand, Dr. Moriyasu Taeko, standing in for Director Ito, presented Dr. Thawnashom with a letter of appointment and a commemorative gift on behalf of Director Ito.

In his inaugural address, Dr. Thawnashom expressed his commitment to fostering academic and educational exchanges between Nagasaki University and the Kingdom of Thailand. He stated his desire to contribute to the growth of NUGAN, not only between the two countries but on a worldwide scale. He concluded his address by expressing gratitude for the appointment.
